Meridian Optimist Junior Rifle Club

The Meridian Optimist Junior Rifle Club provides youth ages 10-18 with a safe, structured, and supportive environment to learn marksmanship, firearm safety, discipline, focus, and sportsmanship. Whether your child is brand new to shooting sports or interested in competitive rifle shooting, our experienced volunteer coaches work with each athlete at their individual skill level.

The club teaches the exciting 10-meter air rifle sport using top-of-the-line precision pre-charged pneumatic equipment used by Olympic athletes.

Participants learn:

  • Safe firearm handling and range safety
  • Basic and advanced marksmanship skills
  • Shooting positions, breathing, and trigger control
  • Goal setting, focus, and self-discipline
  • Teamwork and competitive shooting opportunities

Our dedicated coaches and volunteers have decades of combined experience mentoring young athletes and helping them build confidence both on and off the range. The club is affiliated with organizations including the NRA, American Legion, and Idaho State Rifle and Pistol Association.

Classes are held one night per week for 90 minutes during the season, which runs from October through April. No experience is required, and equipment is available for beginning shooters.
